Defendant in the new yaz lawsuit is Bayer, maker of the birth control drug.
Eighteen year old Michelle Pfleger died after a blood clot in her lungs caused cardiac arrest. The pulmonary embolism, which is the medical term for a blood clot in the lungs, caused the student to collapse on on her way to class at Elon University in North Carolina. She was rushed to the hospital but died nevertheless after cardiac arrest. Now her mom is suing Bayer in a new Yaz lawsuit, alleging the birth control drug caused the blood clot.

The student was taking Yaz for acne, and the lawsuit claims the drug label fails to warn consumers about the dangerous Yaz side effects like blood clots. The Yaz lawsuit also claims that this new generation of birth control drugs has more potentially serious side effects than previous prescription birth control drugs.

This newest Yaz lawsuit follows closely on the heels of publication of two medical studies published in the British Medicl Journal. The studies suggest evidence that women taking birth control drugs containing the hormone drospirenone, which is the main ingredient in Yaz and Yasmin, are two or three times more likely to develop serious blood clots, compared to women taking previous generation birth control drugs which do not contain drospirenone.

Some women taking Yasmin or Yaz have developed deep vein thrombosis and blood clots, possibly as a result of this oral contraceptive. The risk of taking these contraceptives stems from the main active ingredient, a hormone called drospirenone. This “fourth” generation progestin is only found in Yasmin, Yaz, and the generic form of the oral birth control, Ocella. Yasmin is manufactured by Bayer, who despite losing over 10% in sales of Yasmin, has seen over 5% increase overall in sales, due to the success of other drugs they sell.

Over a thousand lawsuits have already been filed over side effects stemming from taking Yasmin, Yaz and Ocella. The federal class actions have been consolidated into Yasmin Class action lawsuits, centralized in Illinois. The Yasmin class action lawsuits have resulted in decreased sales of the drug.

In the meantime, Bayer has developed and marketed a new birth control pill called Mirena. Mirena is a levonorgestral-based pill, which is thought to be safer then drospirenone. There is supposedly less risk of blood clots in Mirena. However, there is a study that claims results showing increased risk of blood clots of four times, in women taking Mirena. It’s all relative: while that sounds bad, it’s better than the risk created by drospirenone, which is over six times that of women not taking the drug.

Bayer Pharmaceuticals, Inc. makers of the oral contraceptive Yaz, has been forced by the FDA to correct misleading TV advertisements concerning use of their drug. Misleading labeling on Yaz packaging as well as these TV ads have caused women to be misinformed about the seriousness of Yaz side effects and efficacy of the drug to cure acne and PMS. If you have suffered health problems as a result of taking Yaz birth control, you can find out how to become part of a Yaz class action suit.

Yaz contains a progestin hormone that may cause potassium levels in the body to become dangerously high. This can lead to strokes, heart attacks, or blood clots. Packaging for Yaz birth control did not sufficiently warn women about these serious risks, say the attorneys for a Yaz class action suit in Wisconsin.

Serious health problems stemming from Yaz use include heart attack, stroke, pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis and gallbladder disease.

Bayer’s ads also strongly suggested that Yaz will cure PMS conditions, and acne, for which is absolutely has not been approved by the FDA. Yaz has only been approved as an oral contraceptive and as treatment for PMDD, a sever form of PMS but with different symptoms of PMS.

Yaz is an oral contraceptive that includes the hormone drospirenone, which has caused serious side effects in women taking Yaz. A Yaz drug injury can be life-threatening, and in some cases it has caused death. If you have taken Yaz and have experienced Yaz side effects , you can seek legal retribution through a Yaz drug injury lawsuit in your state.

The basis for the Yaz drug injury lawsuits rests partly in the failure of Bayer Pharmaceuticals, who market the drug, to adequately warn women against some serious health problems associated with taking Yaz birth control. These include blood clots, which can cause stroke, heart attach, and gall bladder disease. If you’ve suffered medical side effects from taking Yaz, you can seek compensation through a Yaz Lawsuit that’s forming in your state.

Aside from stroke, heart attack and gall bladder disease, women have developed deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE). These are blood clotting situations caused by raised levels of potassium in the blood, which is a result of the diuretic effect of drospirenone, one of two main ingredients in Yaz.

If you’ve suffered needlessly from a Yaz drug injury then you can find retribution by joining other women in a Yaz lawsuit. If you knew then what you know now about Yaz side effects, would you still choose to take this pill?

Yasmin is an oral contraceptive first made by Berlex Laboratories, which was taken over by Bayer Pharmaceuticals in 2006. Is contains a progestin called drospirenone, which can cause raised potassium levels. This condition is called hyperkalemia. This can lead to deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) as well as strokes and heart attacks.

Bayer’s failure to adequately warn women of these possible serious Yasmin side effects is the root of new Yasmin drug injury lawsuits popping up in state after state across the country. Current packages of Yasmin do have a warning for hyperkalemia, or raised potassium levels. However, this does nothing to warn women against thromboembolism, stroke, heart attacks and gall bladder disease.

Bayer also overstated the effectiveness in their Yasmin advertising campaigns, in regards to curing acne and PMS. Yasmin can relieve these symptoms, but cannot cure them. But the Yasmin drug injury we’re most concerned with is serious health issues resulting from taking Yasmin.

Simply put, Bayer does not warn women that taking Yasmin can lead to stroke, heart attack, and gall bladder disease. Warning on packaging are not adequate. Bayer has been accused of fraud, civil conspiracy and commercial bribery in the latest Yasmin lawsuits.

Yaz is an oral contraceptive introduced to women in the United States in 2006. It’s a low-dose hormone version of Yasmin, which was introduced to the market in 2001. Both Yaz and Yasmin are sold by Bayer Healthcare. Yaz, like Yasmin, works on a hormonal level, preventing ovulation in order to prevent pregnancy. The synthetic hormones are the source of Yaz side effects, outlined below.

Yaz uses a combination of hormones, called ethinyl estradiol and drospirenone (DRSP). Both are synthetic variants of estrogen and progestin. Drospirenone is a progestin and very likely the source of serious health problems reported in women taking Yaz. Drospirenone is a “fourth generation” progestin, and is also found in Yasmin and its generic version, Ocella.

Yaz side effects are usually caused by too much or too little of estrogen and progestin in the pill formulation. Symptoms can include:

acne

breast tenderness

depression

hair loss

weight gain

nausea

anxiety

These may be signs of serious health problems like:

Thrombophlebitis

HypertensionHepatic adenomas or benign liver tumors

Gallbladder disease

Arterial thromboembolism

Pulmonary embolism

Myocardial infarction

Cerebral hemorrhage

Cerebral thrombosis

Gallbladder disease is of particular concern, as many women have developed this condition recently. In fact, there is probably a Yaz lawsuit forming in your state right now, due to increased symptoms of gallbladder disease possible linked to yaz. Don’t ignore Yaz side effects – take action today.

Yasmin is a hormonal birth control. That means it introduces synthetic hormones into your body in order to manipulate your system to prevent pregnancy. The active ingredients in Yasmin are Drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol, which prevent the release of the egg from the ovary. They also change the uterine and cervical lining, making it harder for sperm to reach the uterus and for any eggs which may have been fertilized to attach themselves to the uterus.

One of the main Yasmin side effects is raised potassium levels. This is due to the diuretic effect of Drospirenone. Loss of fluids lowers your sodium levels, thereby raising potassium levels due to the imbalance that occurs from fluid loss. Higher potassium levels in your system can cause serious health problems.

Two of the big Yasmin side effects would be blood clots and gallbladder disease. The medical term for this type of blood clot is Pulmonary embolism, (PR). This is described as a blockage of an artery in the lung, and although very serious, us not usually deadly. But PE can damage your lungs, and if the clot is big enough, you can actually die from it.

If the blood clot forms in your veins, it’s called deep vein thrombosis (DVT). These can happen anywhere in your body, but usually these Yasmin side effects occor in extremities like your leg. About 30% of DVTs end up as a PE, damaging your lung.

Any woman using a estrogen-progestin birth control like Yasmin, Yaz, or Ocella (or even NuvaRing and Ortho Evra) should watch out for blood clots. Here are some of the major symptoms:

Abdominal Pain

headaches

chest pain

leg pain

blurred vision

Ocella birth control, marketed by Teva Pharmaceuticals, is a hormonal form of contraception used by women since 2008 in the US. It’s the generic version of Yasmin which is marketed and sold by Bayer Healthcare. Bayer also sells Yaz, a low-dose version of Yasmin.

Ocella uses the same chemicals and synthetic hormones as Yasmin, Drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol, to prevent ovulation. It also causes the same side effects as Yasmin. Ocella side effects are a serious health concern. If you’re taking Ocella, please read this to learn about Ocella side effects.

Drospirenone is also a strong diuretic, meaning it causes you to lose fluids through urination. This fluid loss will cause the levels of sodium in your blood to drop, which results in higher potassium levels due to the imbalance that’s left. This condition is called hyperkalemia. Symptoms of hyperkalemia can often not appear, but can include:

Irregular heartbeat

Slow, weak, or absent pulse

Nausea

Higher potassium will cause irregular heartbeats and pooling of the blood. An imbalance in the cardiovascular electrolytes is a serious health issue. These are serious symptoms, not to be ignored since they can lead to heart attacks, stroke, and blood clots. If you’re taking Ocella and you have any of these Ocella side effects, we hope you’ve already seen a doctor about it.

The next step is to become part of an Ocella Lawsuit. You deserve compensation for your medical bills and your pain and suffering. The makers of Ocella and Yasmin are profiting every year from sales of these drugs, and you needn’t suffer needlessly.

Ocella is marketed by Teva, in the United States under the label Barr Laboratories, which Teva has acquired since launching of the product. It’s a generic version of Bayer Schering’s Yasmin and Yaz. Like Yasmin and Yaz, Ocella is currently the subject of several birth control lawsuits in various states across the country. If you have been taking Ocella, you want to know about an Ocella Lawsuit in your state.

Ocella is also taken by women to treat acne vulgaris and Pre Menstrual Syndrome (PMS). Women taking Ocella have reported side effects and serious health problems such as:

Blood clots

Heart-attack

Deep vein thrombosis (DVT)

Pulmonary embolism (PE)

Yaz is an oral contraceptive that came onto the market in 2006 . It is a sister drug to Yasmin, which was FDA approved in 2001. Yaz contains less estrogen than Yasmin, but both are combination hormonal contraceptives which contain ethinyl estradiol (estrogen) and drospirenone. Dropspirenone is a synthetic form of progestin.

Yaz was also approved by the FDA as treatment for Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD). Women over 14 take Yaz for acne, PMS, and PMDD as well as for contraceptive reasons. Although Bayer has been forced to recant claims it cures acne and PMS, Yaz has still been a popular drug and a big money maker for Bayer over the past several years.

However, women’s experience has revealed serious health problems associated with taking Yaz. Yaz is now linked in many cases to following symptoms:

Blood clots

Liver tumors

Myocardial infarction

Cerebral hemorrhage

Pulmonary embolism

Arterial thromboembolism

Hypertension

Gallbladder disease

If you have suffered as a result of taking Yaz birth control, you have suffered needlessly while Bayer continues to see higher and higher profits. Find out about a Yaz lawsuit in your state and seek the retribution you deserve or while you spend your cheap holidays to Spain and seek the retribution you deserve. Join other women who have developed disease and symptoms from taking Yaz, and work together to seek compensation to cover medical bills. You will also be helping alert other women on Yaz to the serious Yaz side effects they may encounter while on this drug.
