Ocella Side Effects

Posted on | January 16, 2010 | No Comments

Ocella birth control, marketed by Teva Pharmaceuticals, is a hormonal form of contraception used by women since 2008 in the US.  It’s the generic version of Yasmin which is marketed and sold by Bayer Healthcare.  Bayer also sells Yaz, a low-dose version of Yasmin.

Ocella uses the same chemicals and synthetic  hormones as Yasmin, Drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol, to prevent ovulation.  It also causes the same side effects as Yasmin.  Ocella side effects are a serious health concern. If you’re taking Ocella, please read this to learn about Ocella side effects.

Drospirenone is also a strong diuretic, meaning it causes you to lose fluids through urination.  This fluid loss will cause the levels of sodium in your blood to drop, which results in higher potassium levels due to the imbalance that’s left.  This condition is called hyperkalemia.  Symptoms of hyperkalemia can often not appear, but can include:

  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Slow, weak, or absent pulse
  • Nausea

Higher potassium will cause irregular heartbeats and pooling of the blood.  An imbalance in the cardiovascular electrolytes is a serious health issue.  These are serious symptoms, not to be ignored since they can lead to heart attacks, stroke, and blood clots.  If you’re taking Ocella and you have any of these Ocella side effects, we hope you’ve already seen a doctor about it.

The next step is to become part of an Ocella Lawsuit.  You deserve compensation for your medical bills and your pain and suffering.  The makers of Ocella and Yasmin are profiting every year from sales of these drugs, and you needn’t suffer needlessly.
